Jessica Shannon
My name is Jessica Shannon. I’m a 20 something student of forensic psychology from Cupertino, California, and I have a strong taste for the morbid, the curious, and the absurd. I began collecting images of war, crime, and disease many years ago. Around 4 years ago, I started to organize some of these photos. I began to create long photo essays containing anywhere from 5 to 200 images with riveting stories to go with them. After a while, it seemed a shame to keep these stories to myself, so I started to use a format that would allow me to include text and photos together. I began to use news articles to supplement my collections, then narrative pieces, and finally I began to write some many of the stories myself. One of the things I almost always include in these albums is survivor testimony. Since then, these albums and the research that goes into each and every one of them has consumed my life. My love of the past is paramount to all things, and my passion for bringing history to life drives me to keep creating new content day after day.
